Any Questions?

Why do we laminate our books?

While at a trade show, we had a gentleman stop by our booth to look at some of our sample books. He exclaimed, “Oh! These are laminated. That’s so much better for kids!” That got us to thinking because we have had a few people ask why we don’t hard bind our books.

Here are our top five reasons for laminating:

  1. Lamination makes the books durable, long lasting and relatively indestructible. Small children can play with the books, chew on them, toss them around, stand on them, etc, and the pages do not tear. What better way to introduce a love of reading to a beginning reader without the worry of the books being destroyed? This strategy also works great for children with special needs.
  2. By designing, creating and laminating/coil binding our books we maintain complete creative control over what your book will look like. You can give feedback and work through the process with us in order to create pages that fit your own style and the story you want to present. Pages and photos can be moved around, resized and edited until the layout meets your approval.
  3. Educational additions: We create books for preschool-age children where the back page has a slot for practicing their writing, numbers, etc. These pages are used with a dry erase marker to further instill varying learning concepts. We also create books for children with special needs who may benefit from having a space in the book to write their name, words, numbers, letters, concepts or feelings. Leaving that option open allows us to offer any and everything a child might need that could further their educational and emotional well-being.
  4. Cost – by laminating and creating the books ourselves, we are able to keep our cost down. We work with vendors who provide us with materials at a much lower rate than the public would pay to have a book laminated and bound. On average, our books would cost the public 3x what we charge if they used an office supply store to create their book (we checked!). It takes a great deal of time to create each book, but we pride ourselves on offering a one-of-a-kind yet affordable product.
  5. Because no one else is doing it! At Personal Child Stories, we love the idea that we are doing something that no one else is doing. That means that you are purchasing a completely unique product, unlike anything else you can find (we’ve looked, just to make sure!). We much prefer to be different from the rest; must be our Aussie genes.
